Description

The three fates are well known in Greek, Roman, Norse, and other mythology. They are represented by three woman: The character on the left is the Spinner representing that which was, spinning the thread of life. She is known as Clotho (Greek), Nona (Roman), and Vror (Norse). The woman in the middle is the Allotter representing that which is, measuring the thread of life. She is known as Lachesis (Greek), Decima (Roman), and Verdandi (Norse). The last on the right is the Unturning representing that which is yet to come, preparing to cut the life thread and end the life. She is known as Atropos (Greek), Morta (Roman), and Skuld (Norse)

I really like that you incorporated so many contrasts into this piece. There’s the contrast between seasons, day/night, and the progress of the thread itself. The fates also seem rather detached from their work given their shrouded faces and blank expressions. It makes them feel unknowable. Really lovely work!
